Founded over a century ago, The University of Sheffield is renowned for the excellence, impact and distinctiveness of its research-led learning and teaching, and is consistently ranked in the top 30 universities in the UK.
To design a series of hard-working direct response mailers that would be sent out to alumni. These were primarily to seek donations towards projects that included: undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for lower-income students and a £2m state-of-the-art MRI-PET scanner facility. Another mailer asked for students’ memories of university life in Sheffield during the ‘80s and ‘90s, this was done to update alumni data for future fund-raising campaigns.
Über carefully considered each brief to come up with an appropriate print design that would maximise the desired response. These ranged from very personal, handwritten-style appeals from a Motor Neurone Disease patient to a more anarchic scrapbook style for a distinctly fun, retro feel.
Almost a thousand donors responded to the mailers, raising over £100,000 towards the projects.
